Hello my name is Grant Swensen I live in the U.S. I have purchased a 1957 Fiat 1100-103 E. And I'm having problems finding some of the parts I need! I need body parts, brake parts, chrome trim, head lights, shocks, and front end parts. If any one knows of any parts suppliers I would realy like some information. Thanks!

1957 fiat 1100 Empty FIAT 1100 parts

Messaggio  LUIGINO GORI Ven 9 Gen 2009 - 18:49

Hello Grant

I am a FIAT 1100 enthusiast from South Africa, so unfortunatley I do not know of many FIAT vintage parts suppliers in the USA, I did do a search some time back, BRUCE'S PARTS BIN & HYDROGERS, (not sure if the name is spelt correctly), who advertise a few parts.

Your query regarding, eg, brake parts, body parts needs to be a bit more specific, which may be easier for others, to voice their opinion.

As an example, you need brake parts: what exactly are you looking for in brake parts, are you looking for "0" rings of the cylinders, brake return springs or liners, etc.

Here are some tips on the ways that you can modify and renew the braking system: I made a modification to my brakes: Most FIAT 1100 brakes have an "0"ring type seal in the wheel cylinders, including master cylinder. I find these to be out-dated by design methods and have modified my wheel cylinder brakes to accomodate "cup" type seals, I had the internal springs made up as well to suit the new internal diameters of the cup seals. When your brake shoes are worn out, you can send them for re-lining or bonding which is better. To renew/replace your brake hoses, bring in your old hoses to a Hydraulic dealer, and they should be able to make up a new brake hose for you, using your original fittings.

I was also looking to replace my original Carello lights, in the mean time I bought sealed beams as a replacement, but the wattage is higher, you need to install a relay for your lights in this case for safety,

I hope to have been of some assistance.

Kind Regards

Modello Fiat 1100 : I am the proud owner of a 1965 FIAT 1100D, R.H.D, assembled in South Africa, which my father bought on 18th September 1965, and has been in the family ever since new.

In previous years, I owned another 2 FIAT 1100D cars and have become very passionate about these cars.

I have a lot of technical experience with these cars and my knowledge extends to my personal contact information and research with the Premier Automobiles Ltd in Kurla, Mumbai, where the FIAT 1100D was remanufactured as Premier Padmini.

During a trip to India in 2004, I did a lot of research on these cars and have taken very interesting photos, including the CNG gas conversion kit fitted to the taxis and the Premier 1.37D, which has a diesel engine, but not FIAT engine, it is a Peuqout engine.

In my travels throuhg Africa in 1998, I saw many old FIAT models in Ethiopia and Egypt.

My FIAT is mechanically 100%, although the bodywork needs to be restored.

I hope to share interesting thoughs on all FIAT 1100 models, and happy and proud to be a MILLECENTO member.

Hello Grant, great to hear from you and all the best with your 1100... Sadly, I can't be of much technical help but Luigino knows his stuff so keep posting and I'm sure we'll be able to help you... slowly! As you will know, the 1100 is a very simple vehicle so most repairs can be done without too much trouble, esp if you're not too particular about absolute originality.

If you have a list of parts, I'll try and translate them into Italian and maybe some other forum members will be able to assist.

All the best, John.

1957 fiat 1100 Empty FIAT spares websites USA

Messaggio  LUIGINO GORI Dom 11 Gen 2009 - 15:04

Hello Grant

I managed to find some information on FIAT, classic part suppliers in the USA, on my "archives info". These suppliers may be a bit closer to you, than other parts suppliers worldwide; the websites are shown below:

1) http://www.hdrogers.com/fiatparts.html
2) http://www.fiatplus.com/home.php (C. Obert & C)

I'm sure if you ask them, they will be able to assist you, and may even be able to forward you to other people who still have classic FIAT 1100 parts for sale.

Kind Regards
Luigino
