http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370162167667&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Modello Fiat 1100 : Ne ho una 1100 dal 1959,ma con il motore 1200 ( 103g 005) Boh...
I also have a 1971 124 sport coupe.
The MC is a conversation starter...definitely the car to go to church in.
The 124 will be,if I ever get to it,the REALLY fun car to drive...

Pistons
Ciao Michael
I have seen the advert on ebay and the photos.
Those pistons are special pistons to raise the compression ratio, and are only suited for the 68mm bore, Fiat 1100 engines. If you want to use these pistons, then you will need to put, dry sleeves in your 103G:005 engine block to suit these pistons. (too expensive). The Fiat 1100, 1089cc engines have dry sleeves.
Regards Luigino

Modello Fiat 1100 : I am the proud owner of a 1965 FIAT 1100D, R.H.D, assembled in South Africa, which my father bought on 18th September 1965, and has been in the family ever since new.
In previous years, I owned another 2 FIAT 1100D cars and have become very passionate about these cars.
I have a lot of technical experience with these cars and my knowledge extends to my personal contact information and research with the Premier Automobiles Ltd in Kurla, Mumbai, where the FIAT 1100D was remanufactured as Premier Padmini.
During a trip to India in 2004, I did a lot of research on these cars and have taken very interesting photos, including the CNG gas conversion kit fitted to the taxis and the Premier 1.37D, which has a diesel engine, but not FIAT engine, it is a Peuqout engine.
In my travels throuhg Africa in 1998, I saw many old FIAT models in Ethiopia and Egypt.
My FIAT is mechanically 100%, although the bodywork needs to be restored.
I hope to share interesting thoughs on all FIAT 1100 models, and happy and proud to be a MILLECENTO member.

Piston/rings
Hello Michael
Some more info for you.On later type of 1221cc engines, with 72mm bore, the piston rings grooves dimensions changed.
1) Early models: both the top 2 compression rings (1 is an oil scraper), are 2.5mm in thickness.
2) Later models: both the top 2 compression rings (1 is an oil scraper), are 2mm in thickness.
So, you need to get the same rings that match the pistons that you buy. I seem to remember that I have reviously bought RAMCO Piston rings, which are manufactured in the USA, At that time, the piston and rings I bought had the compression groove thichkness of 2.5mm.
1) Part number of the piston rings with: 2.5mm compression ring groove, and oil ring groove = 4mm: is: 0635: 50310: PR37009.
I think the PR37009, is the universal number
2) Part number of the piston rings with: 2mm compression ring groove, and oil ring groove = 4mm: is: PR37014.
I think the PR37014, is the universal number
There is another trick in finding and matching piston rings, sometimes you can't always look-up for the particualr car model, because with vintage spares, some pistons rings won't be in stock. Most spares shops carry a UNIVERSAL Engine bore size catalogue, and you might have to buy 3 different sets of pistons rings, from different cars to suit your application. (hope that helps)

Re: Cercando pistoni per una 1100,con il motore 1200 103g005 e vendo altro
Thanks,Luigino.
I have been trying to buy piston sets, since I'm hoping that if they come from the factory with the correct rings in place,I won't have to guess which rings to use.It is difficult enough trying to find pistons for this engine.
The 68. 's that you saw were the ones that I had originally bought, because I thought that the engine was an 1100.Well,now they are expensive paperweights...
So,now I'm looking for over-sized pistons for the 1200 that is in the car ( 103g 005 )
Do you know anyone near you that might have a set.Right now I'm waiting to hear back from the machine shop where the block is,and then I will know how big a piston I have to find.
Thank you very much for all of your information,it is incredibly helpful, and confirms some of the things that I thought were true.
Regards,
Michael
